Equality & Diversity

At Next Steps Community Care it is paramount that each individual we support, their families and community plus those who support them are treated with dignity, equality and respect at all times.

It is our core value at Next Steps to be truly committed to providing high quality person centred services. Discrimination of any form is challenged in line with the Next Steps Policies and Procedures which are regularly reviewed.

Next Steps closely follows Skills for Care's "Common core strategic equality and diversity principles".

Commitment to equality, diversity and human rights values

We confirm our commitment and vision for equality, diversity and human rights through our core values, mission statement and strategic plans.
We review our high-level strategic documents to ensure that they incorporate a commitment to equality, diversity and human rights values.

Promoting equality, diversity and human rights in decision-making

We confirm we have governance, decision-making and partnership working arrangements in place to promote equality, diversity and human rights.
We have appropriate measures in place to ensure that equality, diversity and human rights issues are adjusted in-line with how the organisation develops, and we will amend or review policies or procedures to reflect this.

Advancement of equality, diversity and human rights

We will conduct and plan our business so that equality, diversity and human rights are advanced and positive, and constructive relationships are the norm, both within the organisation and beyond.
We will, when conducting and planning the organisation's business, advance equality, diversity and human rights perspectives and advocate adoption of the Common core strategic equality and diversity principles.

Monitoring equality, diversity and human rights performance

We will review diversity of representation in our workforce and governance arrangements. Where there are identified gaps we will consider targeted recruitment and support activities.

Commitment to equal access and open standards

We will ensure that our services are equally accessible to all by identifying any barriers to access and will work towards using more open and accessible solutions wherever possible.
